What we do
The Foundation exists to provide a vehicle for the Fraternal Order of Moai and its members to fulfill their pledge to "improve our communities through charitable acts" and provide support to the community through community service and charitable giving, either directly or by contributions to other 501(c)(3) organizations selected by the national organization and local chapters. The Foundation has been granted recognition from the IRS as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
Events
The Foundation holds fundraising events to benefit named charities. The majority of the proceeds come from silent auctions of donated goods held at events and live auctions of Mystery Bowl cocktails prepared for attendees. The lively Mystery Bowl auction and the elaborate presentation of the bowls to the winners by a dancing Mystery Person embody the Order's concept of fun with a purpose.
Projects
The Foundation does creative projects for charity. The Fraternal Order of Moai and North East Surf Music Alliance present: Music for Moai II: Music to Shake Cocktails By. Featuring surf bands—and a bonus track by Bamboo Saxotica—playing exotica, spy, lounge and tiki music. That's 25 tracks of original music for a good cause!
